Do I need to have an appointment?
Yes. Please call to schedule an appointment. Walk-ins are accepted if time allows.
Do you accept payments plans?
Payment is required at the time of services. We accept CareCredit on a 6-month promotional plan.
Does my pet need to be up to date on vaccines prior to surgery?
We strongly recommend having your pet up to date on vaccines and will update them the day of surgery if needed but we do not require them to have your pet spayed or neutered. We do, however, require a current physical examination and in many cases, pre-operative bloodwork.
Do you declaw cats?
Yes, we still perform declaws. Declawing is most successful if performed at an early age and so we encourage this to be done when spaying and neutering after 6 months of age. We also highly encourage tendonectomies as an alternative. In a tendonectomy, small incisions are made and the tendons are severed, preventing the cat from extending their claws. Studies have shown that patients who undergo tendonectomies experience less pain than their declawed counterparts that had the traditional amputation procedure. Tendonectomies require lifetime nail care and routine trims since the patients still have their claws but are unable to wear them down naturally due to no longer being able to extend them to scratch.
I have a litter of puppies; do you do tail docking and dewclaw removal?
Yes. We perform these at 3 days of age. Please call with as much notice as possible and a headcount to schedule a time to bring them in.
Do you offer grooming services?
No. We would be glad to give you numbers to a few options in the area.
Do you offer after hours emergency care?
No. Unfortunately, at this moment in time, we are not offering 24-hour emergency services. If you have a small animal that requires immediate medical care, please call Blue Pearl in Blaine at 763-754-5000.
What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept cash, VISA, Mastercard and Discover. We also accept CareCredit on a 6-month promotional plan. If you have questions about CareCredit, please call the clinic or visit www.carecredit.com to apply.
At what age can I have my pet spayed or neutered?
We recommend waiting until after 6 months of age to spay and neuter. This way we may address any other medical issues while they are under anesthesia; such as removing any remaining baby teeth. New patients or those that have not been seen within 2 years, will be given a thorough examination of the morning of surgery to check for any illness, injuries or physical abnormalities before undergoing anesthesia. Any dogs that are at risk of heartworm disease, will be required to have a current heartworm exam. Patients 6 years and older are required to have pre-operative bloodwork performed before any procedures are performed.
Do you offer low income spaying and neutering services?
No. We attempt to keep our services at an affordable rate for everyone in the surrounding community. Visit mnsnap.org for information and other resources.
Do you see species of all kinds?
No. We are a small companion animal clinic that deals primarily with cats and dogs. We do not deal in any large animal care and will usually refer any other exotic species elsewhere for more comprehensive care. We would be happy to get you in touch with the correct clinic for your needs.
Do you offer pet boarding?
No. We would be glad to give you numbers to a few options in the area.
Do you take in lost and found pets?
We do not have the room nor resources available to take in lost and found pets. We will, however, take down any information in regards to the pet, scan them for microchip identification, put a posting on our Facebook page and give you a list of the nearest shelters and humane societies.
